History

Early years

Superman was born Kal-L of the planet, Krypton. His father was the esteemed scientist, Jor-L, and his mother was a librarian named, Lora. When Kal-L was still a toddler, his father discovered that the planet Krypton teetered on the brink of absolute destruction. Realizing that there was not enough time to save everyone on the planet, he deposited his son inside of a specially designed rocket ship and launched him into outer space. As Kal-L's rocket broke the atmosphere, the planet Krypton exploded.

After traveling through space for an indeterminate amount of time, his rocket eventually crash-landed in a small farming community named Smallville, on the planet Earth. Though at first placed in an orphanage, Kal-l was soon adapted by the Kents and given the name Clark. Over time he discovered his many powers. Ma Kent later died and when Pa Kent was on his death bed, he made Clark promise to use his powers for the good of mankind. Taking the advice to heart, Clark created the identity of Superman.

As Superman

Clark earned himself a job at the Daily Star after turning in a story about Superman's first heroic act. He was teamed with Lois Lane, a courageous female reporter who had a crush on Superman but didn't think much of the timid Clark Kent. He first discovered he had a weakness when he battled Dan Rivers aka "Swami Riva". The green stone Riva wore was actually Kryptonite. Superman defeated Riva and then went on a voyage of discovery to find out the stone's origins. He eventually found his own origins in the process. After his return, he battled Lex Luthor for the first time. Luthor was tld by Riva of Superman's weakness to Kryptonite and tried to destroy the Man of Steel. Superman survived and battled Luthor again over the years. He also battled the Puzzler, Ultra-Humanite, Toyman, Prankster, Funny Face, Metallo, the Archer, and many more. He joined the Justice Society of America as an honory member and served as a member of the All-Star Squadron in World War II.

The Wizard cast a spell to rid the world of Superman. this made Clark forget his superhero identity. He continued to battle evil as a crusading reporter and eventually won the heart of Lois Lane. The two married, but Lois discovered Clark's secret while on their honeymoon. She tracked down the Wizard and made him reverse the spell. Lois then tried to forsake their marriage but Superman wouldn't let her. They renewed their vows in Kryptonian style. Later, George Taylor retired as editor-in-chief of the Daily Star and Clark replaced him. Superman eventually met his Earth-1 counterpart. He also discovered he had a cousin named Kara after her rocket finally reached Earth decades after his. She took on the name Power Girl and followed in his footsteps.

The Crisis

Superman was one of the first heroes involved in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. He was part of the group that battled the Anti-Monitor and tried to confront Earth-1 Superman after Supergirl died in the battle. He was present at the Dawn of Time when history was changed and Earth-2 was wiped out. He thought he lost Lois and aginzied over his survival. He joined in the final assault against the Anti-Monitor and stayed behind alongwith Alex Luthor and Superboy-Prime while the other heroes left to return Earth back to the Positive Matter universe after the Anti-Monitor stole it. Superman struck the final blow that killed the Anti-Monitor. Alex then revealed that he saved Lois by placing in a dimensional paradise. Alex then transported himself, Earth-2 Superman and Lois, and Superboy-Prime to that Paradise.
